I have a 38 unit building and am dividing it into two meter banks one 20 and one 18. the service is 3 phase in to each meter bank and single out. When calculating the ranges (3529kw each) I took the demand factor from table 220.55. I am being told to use twice the total number between any two phases to get the demand as stated in 220.55 so 20/3*2=13.3 round up to 14 which gives me a demand factor of 32. So now I took 14*3529 and then applied my demand factor of 32. Giving me 15810. resubmitted and was then told that i had to take the 20 ranges *3529 then apply the demand factor as if it was 14 (20*3529*.32= 22585.6).
Also the same for the dryers
Can someone clarify which method I should be using. To me if I use the 3 ph calc it should be less then if I went with the chart for single phase.
