My question concerns not the overall load calculation for the building but the individual calculation on the panel to each residence. I understand there are diversity factors that are applied when calculating for the main service to the multifamily building. Do you then just take the overall load and divide it by the numbers of apartments/condo's or when sizing the panels in each apartment/condo do you take each one as a individual loads and calculate as a single family dwelling?

I'd agree with this. The feeder to the dwelling unit would not be subject to the same demanding allowances as the service conductors.

There is a good example in the back of the nec.
You do treat each unit individually when calculating
the load for each unit.

I have taken many certification exams in the Northeast. I can not remember one test that had a single question about calculations on it. You would be better served reviewing the sections dealing with fire alarms and control circuits.

You still use 220 to do the caciulations but you do not get the reductions
as George stated.
