09Multi tenant building. Meter stack with (6) 200A services. Rule of 6 disconnects used. Tenant has a 200A service to the space they will be taking over but renovations from an office space to an orthodontics clinic require a 400A service. Stack due to location will be very hard to modify. POCO does not allow self contained meter bases for services larger than 200A so will need to be a CT cabinet if a 400A service. As an option would NEC allow (2) 200A feeds from the meter stack to service one space? The service to the building ends at the meter stack correct. So I would not be feeding the space with 2 services. It's basically 2 200A feeders, yes? Tenant may not like having 2 electric bills but may be the best choice.

Thanks for the replies.

Please review the definition of a service. A service is a connection to a utility. It has zilch to do with meters and the NEC does not give a f--- about where meters are placed or how many there are. What defines a service has almost nothing to do with the number of disconnecting means; that is, there are rules about how many disconnecting means you can have for one service, but adding or subtracting them never changes how many services you have.

The utility may have its own rules about how many meters they will provide or require for any given occupancy.

I presume that you are describing one service. If that's the case, the NEC has no problem with feeding an occupancy with two feeders as long as everything involved is on the same building. However if you are adding load then you ought to show load calcs for everything on the service.

That is exactly what I was thinking too, I was looking for a second opinion. Yes, one service to the building. Load calcs are done and the final service size came out to 260A. Not sure if utility co will have an issue with it (good point) , they can get picky sometimes.
Thanks!
