I've got several fans to hook up....I believe they either are 1/3 or 1/2 hp motors. They hang from a 20ft ceiling....

If I run a 30amp circuit from the bus duc, and set individual lockable HP rated safety switches, do I have to provide fuse or overload protection....?

How much can I load up that circuit with the inductive load?

I remember something about 1/4hp or greater, continuous duty 3hrs or more, needs overloads?? My memory is crusty !!

Every motor needs individual overload protection, if they are not internally thermally protected (I doubt they are) you will have to provide it.

Ouch...They have a gazillion of these already installed with no protection.. and I thought it was required.....So with the bus duc in the air and the fans in the air, does the overload protection have to be on the ground?

So Im thinking manual mtr starter switch with overload?

So if I install a C/H MS switch on the fan w/LO attachment, does it have to readily accesible or just accesible?
