Multiple circuits in same conduit

On a current job, I am running 4 new circuits from the main panel to the new Kitchen and Bath.

I will run the 2 appliance circuits (12/3 with a breaker tie)in one conduit and would like to put the other two circuits for the refrigerator and the bathroom plug on another conduit.

I seldom use conduit and am not sure if two wires from separate circuits can share a conduit.

Code reference number(s) I should check?

Thanks in advance.

This is very common. Sure, they can even share the same gnd...which could be the pipe, or a conductor sized to the largest circuit in the pipe.

keep in mind you have to derate for the number of current carrying conductors, due to heat build up. If its 12 AWG thhn your ampacity is 30 amps, but after derating it can not be protected at more than 20 amperes per 240.4(D).

Just a question.
Why are you running NM in a conduit? Is it for protection? Will this be a complete conduit or sleeve?
If it's a complete raceway conductors would be a bunch easier than NM and you could run all in one conduit.

Not trying to bring up old arguments, just curious.

Also watch out for conduit fill. If you are running NM (romex) in conduit, I'm not sure you would get more than 1 12/3 in a 1/2 EMT (no matter how hard you pull  ). 4 circuits is no problem if you use THHN.

Thanks for all the replies. The way I worded the question was a little misleading. I am using THHN in the conduit, then, once I am out of the unprotected area, I will be using Romex.

Thanks again.
