multiple generators - fault

Is it correct in say that if you have 2 synchronous generators in operation, the 3 phase fault current that will be available is the sum of the individual 3 phase fault current of each generator ?

i.e.

Generator 1 - 3000 A

Generator 2 - 2500 A

When both are operating at the same time, the available fault current is 5500 A.

This might seem like a very obvious question, but I'm just making sure.

Thanks

Re: multiple generators - fault

If they close coupled - meaning there is no significant intervening impedance between them - then your assumption is correct.

Re: multiple generators - fault

I agree. You would be essentially placing two resistors in parallel. That cuts the net resistance in half. With the same voltage and half the resistance, the current (in this case the ?fault current?) will double.
