I'm looking at putting solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) on a set of townhomes. One townhome building has multiple units that are each individually metered to the utility. Ideally, I could install one PV/BESS system for the building and share it among the different units, but is this even allowable by code?
It would mean multiple services are sharing one battery storage system, essentially creating a shared distribution on the load side of the meters. Something about this seems to not comply with code, but I can't find the specific section that it violates. Can anyone confirm?
If the battery system has a separate inverter for each service or meter, would that work?
