We have an existing industrial building (160'x350'). A new addition is being added (160'x200'). The existing building has a 800 amp service. The new addition will have a 800 amp service. The local power company says the 05NEC will not allow them to put 2 services to this building but the AHJ will allow it. Does 230.2 (A)through(D) allow for 2 seperate services to this building?? The building will be served by a crane system running 550' thru both the new and existing building.
 
Rather than start a new discussion on an old thread, I moved this post so that it is the beginning of its own thread.
 
If you plan to put the second set of service gear close to the first, then I think you don't have a good argument. If the second service will be at the opposite side of the building, then you might be able to make a case with 230.2(B)(2).
