We need to replace a panel in a condo building that is more than 5 stories so I am assuming that means it is type 1 (maybe that is a bad assumption). There is existing romex from a previous recent remodel. One inspector from the wrong jurisdiction said it is probably ok buy not my jurisdiction. The correct inspector said the romex has to be in conduit but he can't look at it or pictures or he will be considered liable...
I am thinking we swap the panel and see what happens but then I don't want to be liable for not telling the lady she has to rip all her walls out and let us put MC in if she wants to have electricity.
Building was built in 1975 and I believe it had conduit everywhere with no ground wire.
So, any thoughts on if there can be romex in the walls and ceiling?
