Was wondering if anyone who may have installed these before could give some advice. We have been asked to bid on installin 8 poles for a local ballfield. They are about 65' tall. How difficult are these to assemble and erect? I'm looking for a rough estimate of time per pole, any other tips someone may have.

Re: Musco lighting

If it is a musco job, you may not be doing anything....they have crews that bring it in, dig the holes and set the poles. I started to propose an alternate system one time and was told not to bother.

Re: Musco lighting

If you're doing sportslighters, you'd better have or have access to a very large bucket truck. No matter how well you think you've preassembled the stuff on the ground, you'll still have to get your rear end up in the air to tweak the aiming of the fixtures.

Re: Musco lighting

I was afraid someone might say plan on going up to adjust the lights. Well, I can rent a bucket thats no big deal. As far as I know there has been no mention of Musco doing anything but shipping out the poles but I'll find out more soon. Thanks

Re: Musco lighting

We've had many Musco poles installed for our parks.
Musco's involvement must be based on contract negotiations. I've seen Musco themselves onsite to adjust the luminaires. I believe the contractor provided the bucket truck.

The footings are precast. Auger a hole, drop it in, plumb in place, and place concrete around it. You have a stub out of the precast for conduit connection. Pole sections drop on top of one another, a wedge fit arrangement.

Musco provides engineered plans and erection instructions.
