Team,
I have 3x300mm2 15KV rated armoured cable with shielded cores.
Can I connect the Armour and Shield tougher to ground?
If can't why? Which one will be the appropriate connection to ground, armour or shield?

I think nobody got my question...There was a dispute about the captive transformer(30MVA) secondary cable terminations, which is supply 11KV to the induction motor(13MW). The terminator have connected the core shield and cable armour into the same ground point. But one of our engineer saying that, there should not be TWO path for the fault current. So the shield should be disconnected and floting.

Which is correct? help me....

Who is the manufacturer? Can you contact the cable manufacturer and ask them what should be bonded together? I looked up an okonite cable that I think is like what you described, but I do not know if the shield should be bonded to the armour and equipment grounding conductors. I don't know how this would physically be done either.:-?

There are always two paths when you install a shielded cable and an EGC. The shield is for stress relief and the EGC for clearing the fault.

So your opinion is that, shield and EGC should be connected to the earth. Am I correct?

That is how most of the installations I have seen have been installed.
