MV Cable Hi-Pot test

Hai friends,

I was conducting Hi-Pot test on 20KV XLPE cable at 80KVDC. After 10 minuts suddenly the leakage current is jumped from 4 microamps to 120 microamps and itis stable upto 15minuts. the temperature at time iwas 27c with 57% RH. What could be the reason? Is the cable insulation is damage?
anybody can give me an explenation
 
First off DC hipot is considered a destructive test for MV cable, some will dispute this, but it is.

Second, your test voltage was way too high.

Finally, an increase in leakage current indicates breakdown and the test should have been stopped right away. Sound like you just destroyed your cable.
