Is an equipment ground in a MV 13.8kV sized any different than in LV systems, do you refer to 250.122? Looking thru. 250.180 it discusses grounded conductors and in 250.184(B)(8) indicates that it shall not carry continuous load , may be bare or insulated, shall have sufficient ampacity for fault current duty. However I do not see a reference to 250.122, why is 600V insulation on cable typically used for this? Just curious on this. Thanks..:?

Take a look at 250.180.
As far as the insulation rating, it doesn't make any difference as it is permitted to be a bare conductor.

Possibly the insulation is primarily there for mechanical and corrosion protection of the wire? And uses 600V rated insulation because that is commonly available?
