My question is can it be done on a 3R enclosure that is made for a bolt on hub, where it's been tapped for the mounting screws, & the opening has a ridge around the opening, to prevent water intrusion with the proper hub. My opinion is no, it's hackish, not being used as intended/listed, and does not make a good connection between the conduit & enclosure. It's not unheard of to punch a smaller KO in a metallic closure cap to use a Myers hub on a 3R enclosure, but have to shake my head about the former method, I have not requested permission to use a photo of the mess otherwise I would post it.

The myers hub is designed to set on a flat surface. I can't imagine it not leaking in place of a bolt on hub. It would not be acceptable in most jurisdictions.
Even a bigger wrong size bolt on hub would be better then using a Myers hub in that spot. Or put a blank cover on that spot and move the myers hub over.

The product standard says that wet location entries can only be made in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Where the enclosure is designed for a bolt on hub, I highly doubt that their instructions would specify any other type of entry.

That sounds like the way typical overhead meter bases come. As long as you have the right size hub, I consider that to be a cheap and easy installation method, especially compared to a Myers hub.

Otherwise, to use the same hole, you'd need to punch out large enough to remove the threaded bosses as well as the raised edge of the hole. My comments typically ignore product instructions. :sneaky:

Let me see if the the link will work, the photos in that thread just are horrible, in terms of bad workmanship, as of this post it's on page 254.

Edit: it works.

There are times when the factory hub location on the top of a 3r enclosure simply doesn't work out and a Meyers Hub may be needed.

I think that's probably why they make them.

Could be they couldn't find a bolt-on hub for the pipe they were using.

Last year I had a heckuva time finding 2-inch hub.
I didn't give up until I found one, but I only spent 4 days looking 😏

As an anticipated last resort, I contemplated an offset nipple and coupling. 💩

Then what to do with the screw holes? 🙈
