I'll get to that part but first....Called in service request for a new house. meter location was questionable so I made sure to tell the phone answerer what I wanted and to make a note of it in the work order. No problem she says. Of course the engineer went out to see the job and assumed the opposite side of the house. I asked of they had any notes in the work request, nope. Big surprise.

Any way that's all been worked out. Inspector called in the ok for power Tuesday. N Grid truck pulled up Thursday. Sat out there for a little while, watching the rain fall I guess. Drove away.

Today they show up again. 10:30 am. Sit in front of the house for a while, then move the truck over to a little side street where they sat for a while longer. Now it's lunch time so they disappear for an hour. I figured that was it for the day but nope they came back!

They parked on the side street again for a while. FINALLY the pulled into the driveway and got out of the truck. Ran the drop and juiced me up. Sat in the driveway for while after they were done.

Total work time, 40 minutes at best. Total, "other time", over three hours.

To me this is a very discouraging yet accurate picture of todays work ethic particularly in larger companies where these things can go unchecked.

But we have power!

first day was an in-truck safety meeting. The next time was an in-truck virtual job walk, the next time was an in-truck job walk of the house around the corner they might work at a few days from now....

there is a convenience store within walking distance to my house.
EVERY morning there is the same group of Utility crew trucks there. Been going on like this for years. It is their daily routine. They sit there for at least an hour. And they are on the clock.

Also, there is a group of Verizon trucks there as well.

One morning, my office phone line was down.
I called Verizon to get someone out to work on it.
They told me 'there is no one in ther area'.
I simply told them 'bull ****, you have at least 3 trucks within a half mile for the past hour.'
'How would you know that?', the person asked.
"Because I was sitting right next to them in the parking lot."
theyere was someone there in 5 min. to fix the problem.
