A local Massachusetts GC asked me to find out what is an energy approval sticker is in the town of Nantucket. He says the building Department requires that the electric panel have a sticker on it that indicates it meets energy codes in order for the building permit to give a final inspection. I can't find anything anything about this. Any of you Mass guys know anything about this?

All the new panels should have all the stickers on them.

Do they want the panel to be vapor tight?

How would a panel meet energy code?
I wish I knew. I suspect he was told that without the energy approval sticker the house can not be deemed energy efficient and is not ready for a final building inspection.

I did a web search about energy code requirements in Nantucket. All I found were something about goals that the town would find to be nifty but I can't find any actual requirements. Maybe someone in the local building department has a brother in law that does energy audits.

As far as I know I can wire a home in mass without regard to how much energy anything uses except I can't buy a type A light bulb more than 60 watts.

Well expect to see energy codes soon enforced in your area, there was a federal mandate.
