the State of Ky is getting ready to adopt all the NEC-2008. MY gripe with it is going to be the GFI,s on sump pump. And i will use a regular plug on my own sump pump. but when i move i will change it out to a new GFI. I even had a guy at a local elec supply house here in Louisville who told me the same thing.
I do know of a guy here in town who had a place where his sump pump was plugged into a GFI and guess what, one time when he was gone the GGI tripped out when there was bad rain storm. So it flooded his basement.
Not going to convince me yet that there is not going to be this happening sometimes.
I will watch and see how well the GFI,s are holding up over time. I had one go bad after one week and the elec inspector said he had to go back to the job to make sure i changed it out. And it was a levington. this was back in the mid 1990,s. So i had to pay more money for the inspector to go back and chek. Gee wizz.
