NEC 110.21

The time for proposals is over, but I would like to hear your opinions on revising 110.21 Marking to read:

"The manufacturer's name, trademark, or other descriptive marking by which the organization responsible for the product can be identified, AND THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE, shall be placed on all electric equipment."

I'm sick an tired of surveying electrical rooms for renovations and having absolutely no idea how old the equipment is or when it was last renovated.

The reason you want the equipment to be dated is exactly why the date is not on the equipment.

It all gets down to the free enterprise marketing, and buyer beware, features of the American system of commerce.

The condition and upkeep of the equipment is far more important than the date the equipment was made.
