110.26(A)(1) states the depth of working space shall be measured from the exposed live parts or from the enclosure or opening if the live parts are enclosed. 110.26 (A)(1)(a) states working space shall not be required in the back of sides of assemblies, such as dead-front switchboards. 110.26 (A)(2) states the width of the working space in front of the electric equipment shall be 30 inches. My question is within this 30 inches of width is there a requirement by code that states what the depth shall be within this 30 inches.

Im not understanding your question completely.

Lets say you have a piece of freestanding equipment. No working space is required at the back amd sides of this equipment. The front of the equipment does require working space at a depth as specified in Table 110.26(A)

Think of it this way: Draw a box on the floor. Make the box 30 inches wide, or the width of the electrical equipment, whichever is wider. The depth of the box must be in accordance with the table in 110.26. That box represents the working space. Does this answer your question?

Yes equiment must be within 6" of depth of each other. For example a 4" deep panel can have a maximum 10" deep wireway above or below it.
