I have a question, if we have a piece of equipment that came in with a name plate indicating 230 VAC. We want to feed it with 208 VAC. Our problem is that the equipment has a diagram indicating that it can be wired from 180 to 240 VAC providing we change the internal wiring as needed. Can we leagaly do this according to 110.3(B)?

Yes, the listing and labeling instructions are not violated. It is possible a manufacturer's instruction is violated if it is not connected per their diagrams.

The manfacturers instruction are part of the listing and labeling. Follow them.
