Recently we got ‘hit’ for NOT having the proper color coding on two separate Panelboards mounted side by side…one system is 480V, 3ph 4 wire with a gray neutral and the other is 208V, 3ph 4 wire with a white neutral. The inspector insisted we put labels on each panelboard front identifying the phase conductors. But from what I see this only applies if the two systems are in the SAME enclosure. Am I missing something here?

While the separate identification of the neutral conductor only applies where you have neutrals from more than one system in the same raceway or enclosure, the rule cited by David applies in all buildings where more than one voltage system supplies branch circuit conductors.
