The screw where you connect the neutral on say a receptacle has to be easy to spot.

This is way the screw for the neutral is silver and the one for the hot is brass
 
Predominantly white in color is inaccurate when it comes to the actual color of a receptacle terminal. Just more vagaries from the NEC, that's all. :roll:

I met an electrician years ago that had a little saying to help him remember when he was learning to tie-in receptacles. He said: "Black to brass, white to light". (light meaning the lighter "colored" screw):smile:

I had a supervisor back when I started about 1K years ago that had a i\similar saying "Black on brass or I'll kick your ***"
