No change to code language but there is a change in comments --
First of all - Accessible, Readily (Readily Accessible). Capable of being reached quickly for operation, renewal, or inspections without requiring those to whom ready access is requisite to take actions such as to use tools (other than keys), to climb over or under, to remove obstacles, or to resort to portable ladders, and so forth.
Placing the GFI receptacle under a tub & removing a door(obstacle) basically eliminates the placement of a GFI receptacle for under jacuzzi tubs shrouds.
Now lets look at the last sentence in the NOT code commentary:
NEC 2014 This requirement facilitates connection and disconnection of the cord-and-plug-connected equipment for safety.
NEC 2017 This requirement facilitates testing the GFCI as well as connection and disconnection of the cord-and-plug-connected equipment.
Are the NEC editors playing politics? easy to accept amendments in code why didn't they just add it to code language ? I use the commentary to make proper assessments but this is irresponsible of the NEC editors by using "I told you so" tactics with non enforceable commentary.
