I have a 2 PV Arrays, the output of each are going to run from one garage roof to another garage where the DC Solar Inverter is installed. Thus there will be 4 wires, 2 for each array, running together. I plan to use THHN stranded 12 AWG inside of 1/2" or 3/4" EMT to make that run of 4 wires about 70 feet into a wiring trough and then into the Solar DC String Inverter. The PV DC circuits will be about 450vDC and 20AMPs maximum.

What I'd like to do is also put in 1 or 2 unrelated 120VAC circuits, running from my main circuit breaker panel along with the THHN 12AWG DC wires to create 1 or 2 120VAC outlets along the conduit run.

The municipality is using the 2017 NEC for electrical and solar installations and I do have the permit approved but without the AC in the conduit. I've looked through the code and various places for guidance on this, and I've seen somewhat ambiguous rules about this. I've seen rules about 'partitioning' non-PV wiring within a raceway, but not too much about running higher voltage DC and AC in the same conduit.

Thanks much for any guidance here.

It's not allowed, 690.31(B) is clear that you would need two separate conduit runs for AC and DC:

690.31(B) PV source circuits and PV output circuits shall not be contained in the same raceway, cable tray, cable, outlet box, junction box, or similar fitting as conductors, feeders, branch circuits of other non-PV systems, or inverter output circuits, unless the conductors of the different systems are separated by a partition.

Cheers, Wayne
