NEC 2017 section 250.52(A)(5)

NEC 2017 section 250.52(A)(5) says pipe as grounding electrode. I have never heard of pipe electrode. What is it?

It's similar to a ground rod only it's usually a length of 3/4 or larger RMC.

It's just a pipe... like a galvanized water pipe or, as infinity says, a piece of galv rigid conduit.....3/4 or larger

Regular threaded rigid conduit. My boss used to make us sledge-hammer them in.
