Hey, guys! I'm an apprentice studying the code, and I have a question about section 210.19 that I would greatly appreciate some help with. So, 210.19(A)(1) has its set of rules about the sizing of conductors on branch circuits, but what confuses me is the separate set of rules that 210.19(A)(4) has. I'm confused as to what kind of loads 210.19(A)(1) applies to, if not those other than the special-case equipment/locations found in 210.2. How do I distinguish between loads covered by 210.19(A)(1) and loads covered by 210.19(A)(4)? Thanks in advance!

If the specific purpose BC is not listed in T. 210.2 then 210.19 A1-where continuous ( A load with a max current is expected to continue for 3hrs or more. Example: A commercial load, such as a piece of data processing equipment or parking garage lighting) and noncontinuous loads. Most residential equipment is noncontinuous-shall apply.
