NEC 210.8 vs. manufacturer's recommendation

If the manufacturer doesn't recommend to provide GFCI for his equipment, although by NEC 210.8, the AHJ might or might not require it, does the manufacturer's recommendation exempt it from NEC 210.8? Thank you!

IMO no. For example if a dishwasher manufacturer said not to use GFCI protection on their equipment then you cannot use that dishwasher.
