Can anyone tell me exactly what motor loads are considered per 220.50 and 430.24, 430.25, 430.26 when considering the largest motor at 125%? I have mostly considered garbage disposals for the load calculations; however some air conditioners have 2 motors, one in the condenser and one in the furnace or air handler. I just assume that taking a test if the question doesn't specify a "motor" as a motor load it is not to be considered in the calculation. Would a garage door opener be a motor load for the largest motor load if it is the largest motor listed in the calculation? Taking a test and real world calculations confuse me some times. If I didn't use an air handler motor in the real world calculation the Inspector would ask me to correct them. It would be nice to find a happy medium here. Is this possible?

Does anyone have any input here?:?

When doing a load calculation i take 125% of the largest appliance that is rated in HP. Heat pumps are displayed in MCA, not HP. Yes they do contain motors but they are not an individual motor. For dwelling load calculations the largest motor is usually either the disposal or the trash compactor. There are lots of appliances that have motors in them, but they are not rated in HP
