NEC 312.6 and 314.28

In this case the motor term box is being replaced since it’s undersized. The T leads and incoming feeder are 500kCMIL. A single 4” conduit enters the side of terminal box
I’m think the depth of the box is more important here according to 312.6, since the T leads come they the back of the box. So that would be one terminal per cable or 6” deep enclosure and height/width would still be 6x 4” or 24”
Is this correct?

I think that Dennis has the correct code section. It's also possible that removing the factory peckerhead and replacing it with a box will violate the motor listing.
