as far as I can see, this section has been added or at least revised in the 2023 edition.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, now it is mandatory to provide a SPD for an industrial control panel that has a safety circuit for personnel protection.
If this circuit is subject to damage by a voltage surge...
I think, this is all most always the case, cause I can not see how to rule this out without using a SPD or the component has already a SPD (I think then cat. 4 / 5?) build in.
How is the phrase "shall have surge protection within or immediately adjacent to the control panel" to be understood...
Is it enough when the supply line for instance, in the sub distribution panel, has already a type 2 SPD installed?, or do I need to install a SPD in my panel?
And if so, is it enough if the SPD is only "protecting" the control circuit which supplies the safety circuit?
