Hello,

I have a question regarding one motor and other loads on the same branch circuit. If I have a single motor rated 1HP or less and other loads, does 430.53(A) apply? Or is this strictly reserved for at least two motors?

Thanks.

ActionDave,

Thanks for the reply. I am still unsure based on the wording of 430.53(A) and 430.53(C). Under 430.53(C), it is clear that this applies to "two or more motors or one or more motors and other loads." 430.53(A) is not worded the same and states "several motors, each not exceeding 1 HP in rating."

430.53 says, Two or more motors or one or more motors and other loads shall be permitted if you meet (A) (B) or (C), so you should be fine if you don't overload the circuit.
