NEC 5.11 requiresair changes for major repair garages of 1 cfm per minute for each square footof garage floor to be taken from within 12” of the floor and 1 cfm per minutefor each square foot of garage floor to be taken from within 18” of the ceilingif work is performed on lighter than air vehicles. Otherwise the 18” below theceiling and the 18” above the floor is classified as class 1 division 2. Am Ireading this correct? How can we tell if a ventilation system meets NEC 5.11? Thegarage I question has almost 2 cfm per minute for each square foot of floor space.What does “with suction taken from a point” mean as it applies to NEC 511? Dothe fans have to be located within 18” of floor or ceiling or duct work or wouldjust air movement caused by the fans suffice?
