Is a chiropractic clinic classified as a health care facility and therefore complies with NEC517.10 requirements?

It is my understanding that a chiropractic office generally falls under the same business use regulations as other medical or dental offices, although, most of Article 517 deals with more acute forms of health care such as hospitals, nursing homes and ambulatory care facilities... I would think that Article 517 would apply to chiropractic offices only if specialized medical equipment is installed, in which case 517 would apply depending on type of equipment and type of treatment being given... It doesn't make sense to require a chiropractic office that has a single bed/cot in a room and only provides manual therapy (manipulation of joints, soft tissues etc.) to comply with the provisions of Article 517 (which is not much different than a massage therapist and/or spa business)...

Our jurisdiction kinda battles with this one a bit... Please comment... :0)

Every Chiropractic office I've seen had some kind of equipment that required 120 volt receptacles; stimulators, electric massage beds, water jet massagers, and other devices that I don't know the name of. Those exam rooms need HCF wiring per Art. 517.
