Does anyone know where the listed Low Voltage Luminaire transumer/power supplies need to be located? Does this need to be 5' from edge of pool or it can be within the 5'?

Thank you,

NEC 680.22 (B)(6) says:
(6) Low-Voltage Luminaires. Listed luminaires that don’t require
grounding, and that meet the low-voltage contact limit, and supplied by
listed transformers or power supplies that comply with 680.223(A)(2),
can be less than 5 ft from the inside walls of the pool.

The low voltage contact limit for your area around the pool will be 15VAC. A 12V lighting system will be under this limit. See 411.4 for explanation of a listed system. As long as your supply is listed and the luminaires you are using conform to 680.22(B)(6), you can install this equipment within 5' of the pool. If your equipment does not follow this then you will need to install your equipment 5' or more from the wall of the pool.

Thank you for your fast response, @Tall Timber!
The transformer is listed as pool & spa use, the secondary of the transformer is 12V, so should be ok to place it within the 5' from edge of pool? Is there any code section mentioning that we can place the transformer within the 5'? I was curious since the line voltage to the transformer is 120V, but do you think this is ok as long as the transformer is hardwired?

680.24(B)(1) & 680.24(B)(2) States that the transformer enclosure must be listed and meet the following requirements:
  1. Be equipped with threaded entries or hubs or a nonmetallic hub
  2. Be comprised of copper, brass, suitable plastic, or other approved corrosion-resistant material
  3. Be provided with electrical continuity between every connected metal conduit and the grounding terminals by means of copper, brass, or other approved corrosion-resistant metal that is integral with the box
If these are met then the transformer shall be located greater than 4inches above the pool deck or 8 inches above the maximum water level(Which ever is greater), As measured from the bottom of the inside of the transformer enclosure. AND not less than 4 feet horizontally from the inside wall of the pool.

If I'm not mistaken, the section 680.24(B)(1) and (2) said for permanently installed underwater luminaires. The lights that I'm referring to is not for underwater luminaires, landscape lighting around the pool. So, I don't think this section applies to the landscape lighting. I believe as long as they are not located within 5', it does not violate the code requirements??

If your 12V landscape lighting is not located within 5' of the inside wall of the pool you will be good to go(y)
