I am confusing myself concerning equipotential bonding as far as, does the equipotential bonding around a pool also get connected to the grounding conductor? I know the ground is specifically for ground fault.

The equi. pot bond will end up connected to the EGC by its connection to such electrical equipment such as the pump or underwater lighting, but there is no requirement to intentionally connect the two.
The equi.pot bond is there to assure, as it's name implies, and equipotential between all items associated with the pool. It is not there to "ground".
