The title of this particular section of code is "Direct-Current Photovoltaic Source and Output circuits Inside a building."
It goes on to mention "building or structure" (please read, I'm not really sure how much of the actual code I can post here due to copyright and whatnot).
My question is, does this section of the code ONLY apply to those circuits that are to be contained in a building? When the code says "building or structure" do they mean building or similar structure? Structure is so broad, it could be interpreted as almost anything.
My reason for asking is that I have a solar array and a code authority is telling me that having the wires contained in part of the metal racking system qualifies as a structure, and thus must comply with 690.31(E) and be contained in metal conduit (seems rediculous). If anyone has any thoughts, they would be appreciated.
Thanks.
