Good afternoon,

I attempting to designate mechanical ventilation equipment loads, required for a gas fill building / room, to the proper emergency system via on site exterior diesel generator with ATS equipment. The building occupancy is a H-2, its a LP container fill building / room(s).

This falls under IBC 414.5, and subsequently and it appears that IBC 414.5.2 requires the ventilation equipment to have "Emergency System" OR "Standby Power". It appears they give you the option... which seems odd to me.

"Standby Power"- the definition in the IBC leads me to believe this is a 701 system. Furthermore, if I read IBC 2702.1.4 it states Emergency System needs to provide secondary power within 10 seconds and Standby Power within 60 seconds. To me this states that the following from the IBC:

Emergency System is a NEC 700 system.
Standby Power is a NEC 701 system.

With this information it is my understanding that the required egress lighting will be on a 700 ATS (or a battery system) and that the mechanical ventilation for the gas fill room equipment be on a separate 701 ATS... OR... could be combined with the lighting on a 700 ATS. ???????

Thanks in advance!
