In the 2002 NEC handbook, Article 250.24 (A) (1) Exhibit 250.8-----of the three possible connection points illustrated, is it permitted to have the grounded electrode connected to more than one point at the same time, say the weatherhead and at the disconnect box? The application in question is on a meter loop installation on a pole.

Could I have some more opinions on NEC 250.24

Is there a fault current division issue to consider?

Bryan, I noticed on some other forum subjects where you Florida boys appear to be taking a beating.....so I'll be nice......I appreciate the yes and no questions, but in your experience has there ever been any issues related to bonding the pole ground to the utility neutral above the weatherhead and bonding the disconnect box to same pole ground at the same time?

I'm not from Florida, never been there, so I'll take a shot even though Bryan certainly doesn't need my help.

Electric utilities ground that wire every chance they get, and multiple grounds only help their system. Further 250.24(2) requires a second grounding point if the transformer is outside the building. So the NEC doesn't seem to find that to be a problem.

It certainly wouldn't hurt anything, but I'm not sure you would gain anything either.
