Is electrical equipment mounted on an exterior wall or post, adjacent to (pool equipment, installed in "open air") , considered to be in a "corrosive environment?
If so, what is the area around pool equipment "in open air" that is considered to be a corrosive environment.. 5ft, 10ft, ? NEC is ambiguous..
I wish to run aluminum feeders from the service panel, through the attic, down an exterior wall (encased in PVC) adjacent to the pool equipment and mount a disconnect or a sub panel. Then run copper wire from the disconnect or sub panel to the various pool equipment. Does this installation place my aluminum wire in an corrosive environment? Can my aluminum ground wire be bare?
Will I be required to make my attic run in copper with an insulated ground? Some inspectors interpret the wire in the PVC from the soffit to the disconnect or sub panel to be in a corrosive environment.
