I have run concealed romex wire in the wall from PV modules on the roof to the inverter. The inspector is interpreting this section of the code to require conduit from the modules to the inverter. I think that if it is surface mounted inside the building the conductors must be in conduit but if concealed behind the dry wall, I think romex is permissible. Any support for this? Thanks

Disconnecting Means

The requirement for being in metal is only "to the first readily accessible disconnecting means." 690.14(C)(1) allows the disconnect to be on the outside of the house. I would think that means after the disconnecting means, all of the wire inside could be NM.
