Re: NEC CODE BOOK

WHen I say no, I mean no. But you would have to tell us where you saw "N.O." in the book. I can't help you without having some context.

By the way, please turn off the ALL CAPS feature. It makes the post more difficult to read. It is also considered impolite, as though you were SHOUTING at us.

Re: NEC CODE BOOK

Please tell us where he saw that abbreviation used. Tell us the article number, such as 320.2(B)(2), or at least the page number (e.g., bottom paragraph, left column, page 42).

I have seen "N.O." used more often for "Normally Open" than for anything else. But I don't know that the NEC uses that abbreviation for that purpose.

Re: NEC CODE BOOK

I just ran a search in the electronic Handbook for N.O., N. O., n.o., and the only thing that is showing up remotely is the "n" in the explanatory text Commentary Table 5.1 Selected Chemicals under 2005 NECH 500.6 Material Groups

Re: NEC CODE BOOK

Pierre,

The electronic Handbook is the same as the handbook, I think.

The point of my post is that "N.O.", in the variations I posted, simply doesn't show up in the NEC text at all.

Re: NEC CODE BOOK

Al
I understood that part of your post, but maybe Kelly is reading the Handbook (some people believe the Handbook is The Code) and reading part of the interruptation that may contain N.O.

Re: NEC CODE BOOK

Pierre,

The same search showed no direct hits on the variations I posted while searching the entire body of text, callouts, cutlines and tables contained in the NEC Handbook. There were some tangential hits in the explanatory text that I site above.

Re: NEC CODE BOOK

OK, Kelly123. The ball is back in your court. We can't help you without getting more information from you.

Re: NEC CODE BOOK

This question was also ask by Kelly on another thread and it was closed.

My husband had a question on some homework and it said "What does N.O. stand for?

It have a few answers like:
No Operation
New Operator
etc

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it probably was normally open, what do you think Charle?

Re: NEC CODE BOOK

I closed that other thread, because it was a duplicate of this one. As I said above, the only thing I have seen "N.O." used for is "normally open." But as Al discovered, the NEC does not use "N.O." in that or any other context. So I guess this thread will just wither on the vine, unless and until Kelly123 comes back to clarify her question.
