My question is in regards to, "grandfathered in". A Realtors home inspection came back with, " sharing of 1 neutral for 2 circuits in not up to code and you must change this or add a 2pole breaker to allow both circuits to be shut off at 1 time." I know this is correct for new homes or when you are upgrading to new equipment. Although this house was built in 1960. As many of us know this way of wiring was accepted until 2011 code change. My local authority having jurisdiction is still using the 2008 code as standard.

I would ask the seller whether they wanted to bother with this as it was code when built. BTW, you can install breaker ties instead of dp breakers. A lot cheaper if possible.
