I know that the Handbook is just an opinion not the code itself, but when it comes to your opinion, my opinion, his opinion, her opinion, and the Handbook opinion, I see a good reason to put the Handbook opinion on top.

My question here is about flat out Handbook commentary mistakes. I've heard this accusation but have never seen any specifics. Can anybody post examples of statements in the Handbook that are contrary to what's stated in the code ?

Someone posted a wiring diagram from an older handbook that showed a wire between the ground and a hot wire. (Maybe from an article 430 motor diagram). So I think most of the problems are minor misprints and proofreading stuff.

I don't think you are going to find anything shocking wrong in the handbook commentary. I know there are also different printings of the 2005 Handbook, and there were some minor corrections made in teh later ones.

The people who are making commentary for the handbook have very good access to information. Yet they have probably not worked in the field in years.

These days we have some pretty good access to info, maybe not as good as they do.

But we have the field experience that also goes a long way in this industry.

I would say they value our input as much as we value their input.

I have met and spoke with a couple of the authors, and they relish the time spent with people like us.

One of the Handbook authors, John M. Caloggero has posted here in the past. Although I don't recall a post from him in recent months. You could do a search for his name to read some of the things that he has said in the past. He does provide insight into the electrical industry.
