I already have Mike Holts " Understanding the NEC " books volume 1 and 2. Would it be redundant to also buy a copy of the 08 NEC Handbook?

I have the handbook and get it every three years. It has every thing the code book has and in order. Also with commentary and diagrams (pictures).
If MH books are what I have described then it might be redundant to get the handbook. I have not seen MH books. But I am sure he probably has diagrams and commentary , too.

I have all of Mike Holts books and DVD's. Every three years I buy one soft
cover NEC and one hardcover NEC handbook. I keep the Handbook
in my truck at all times. The softcovers don't make it to the book shelf
in very good shape after three years in a service truck. The hardcovers
do really well after three years in rough service. The pictures in the
Handbook make a great training tool for helpers.

I get a new handbook every code cycle also. I strongly reccommend getting one regardless of what other material you have.

nothing beats conflicting references.... we prove that here daily....

I think the handbook would still be a wise purchase! Actually I plan to buy the 08 Handbook on cd, it gets you copies of the 05, 02 as well.

This is the first cycle I have had the NECHB on CD. Ask me in a couple years if I would buy it again.

So that's what my 2008 Handbook looked like before it spent over a
year in a service truck. Granted my Handbooks has fared way better than my softcovers have. You ought to see my 99 you can hardly tell it was a book,
it looks like a folder that somone really abused.:D

I have found you can never own to many books*. There may only be a few items you can get from them but always good to have a reference source at hand.

*Unless you run out of space or you floor collapses.

I agree,I love books, one of my favorite quotes is,"Back in my time,
television was called books." :D

I like the handbook's too. They're are little heavy to cart around however. I also have the 2008 NEC on CD which has a good search function and copy and paste when I need to print out a section.
