I need a little help, I am switching out an old paralleling switchgear for a hospital and it requires the new one be outside the central plant. I am planning on using the location of the existing paralleling switchgear as a box for using compression type lugs to tie-in new wire with existing wire for all existing loads and extend to the new switchgear. My question is, being a hospital and emergency system, am i allowed to use compression lugs to extend the wire to the new gear location or do i need to replace the entire wire, so that it is a solid continuous wire from load to switchgear?
