Does anybody out there have current Highlighting for the 2017 codebook? I used Mike Holts for many years, but he doesn't have it anymore.

Thanks in advanced.

Gary

I assume you mean for the changes. Mine is highlighted.

Hi Vince,

We use to highlight in yellow all the previous test answers that were on previous tests. So when you're taking a test and scanning, the highlighted is looked at first. It speeds your test time. I also Highlight the 600 volts (now 1000v) sections in blue, so I don't get the two voltages confused during a test. Easy for me to get in the wrong section when under test conditions.

I have my 2008, 2011, and 2014 highlighted. Now, getting ready to take the Tennessee test and will be based on the new 2017 code starting January 1st. Maybe Tom Hendry has them. I'll take a look there. I may have to go back to the 2014 book and use that as the update.

Thanks.

Gary

Does Tennessee allow you to take your code book into the exam room, NC does not.

Based on what I've read, yes. You can find it on PSI exams. My Florida EC license is good in NC. But, how the heck can you take an NEC code test without a Codebook? I have nine States, and I used the codebook in all so far.

You have to use the code book, calculator, pencil, and scratch paper they furnish you, you also have to leave all of them.

I'm glad we could use the Florida EC license to contract in NC.

I've been doing the tab and highlighting since my first master in 1979. The hardest test to date I've found out there was North Dakota. Texas scratched a couple of items in my book, (like pasting 240-6 in four different places, but never have I been, (yet) where they don't allow your book.

Took the NoDak test in 2015 and agree that it is challenging!
It has two sections, one allows use of Codebook, other doesn't. If I remember correctly the part that doesn't was focused on general electrical theory and calculations, and possibly some business related stuff.

Last year I took the Montana test. It's a PSI testing format. They allow a Codebook and a couple other reference books (I think the Stalcup's book and a blueprint reading book), but nothing is allowed to be highlighted. I erased some notes I had in the Codebook. Luckily I hadn't highlighted it. They look through your books to confirm. They provide calculator pencil and scratch paper (which they take back when you're done). The test turned out to be surprisingly easy. I expected a lot more given the hurdles they put in front of you just to be able to take the test!

Hi Ross,

Yes, The ND was a bear! I think I took it also in 2015. Or, the time oil was at $130.00, before it crashed under 50.00 of the frackers making money! I also took the Montana test here in Florida through PSI, and I thought I used my hi-lighted book. Maybe your right. I must be losing my memory. It appears that Tennesse is allowed but I'll re-check. I purchase an NEC .pdf copy, highlight in Adobe, then print on 15lb paper and use that in all my books. I also buy a five ring binder with the code and throw those pagers away and insert my new printed NEC code there. I rearrange all the sections to meet my needs and make it as fast for lookup as possible. It works great in testing but even better when I need to use the code to solve issues in the field.

Tom H has the 2700 question answers that were on another test/s. I just checked his website.
