Need some help Guys. I just landed 5 4inch pvc conduits in a tap box with a rack of meters. The inspector came out and said I need plastic bushings. Now I know what the code says about any wire over a #4 you need a plastic bushings. But as you wireman know, buy the time you get the lock nut on the 4 inch pvc male adapter the bushing only has a few threads and when you start pulling wire they will usally come off and the male adapters are plastic. I usally try to put them on after the wire pull if I can. Just need some feedback.
Thanks Mike

Article 300.4(F) has a alternative to the threaded bushing.

He is talking about another insulating material that will keep the conductors away from the edges of the conduit . That is an alternate method

See if you can find OZ Gedney phenolic bushings. They are a hard (bakelite) plastic and don't burn through when you pull, plus the they thread on and stay on. They are a tad bit bigger than the plastic. There are different quality plastic as well.
