NEC Plus

I subscribed after they lowered the price, originally they were asking about $20 or so for the site.

It gives access to a bunch of the NFPA publications including ROP's and ROC for NEC, NFPA 72 and 70E ( I may be mistaken about NFPA 72) as well as past editions of the NEC. I find it to be a handy resource.

I think 2 areas they could inprovr the service is to give it to mebers at no cost(Yeah Right) and update the home page more often.

Does anyone subscribe to NEC Plus? If so, is it worth the 9.95 a month?

I think it is very easy to use and very informative.

Chances are , if your interested in NECPLUS you already own a codebook or 2, a hand book or 2, maybe even an electronic version or 2. My point is you probably already have some dough invested in very useful tools and would be purchasing yet another one.

$9.95 is a judgment call to be made by the authority having jurisdiction( which is you in this case)

IMO , NECPLUS should be free to NFPA members. If you can afford it I thinks its a very useful tool. As JOEBELL mentioned, it offers many other resources that are pretty informative.

Joe,
All of the ROPs and ROCs are available without subscription if you dig around on the NFPA website...at least the most recent ones.

NEC PLUS should be free to NFPA members

If they didn't do all the mailings of their catalog 5 times a month, maybe they could afford to make it free.

I agree with making it free to NFPA members. Outside of a member, I think they should stop letting people access the NEC online for free! But, that's just me!

I agree. I was a member once and they don't let me forget it.

I subscribe, it has a useful feature on the code that shows the ROP and ROC for each change as a link, so for review and studying its great, yes you can use the free ROP and ROC, but the online is much easier

How do they do the payment? Do they take out so much a month or is it a yearly thing?

I get billed mothly on my AMEX painless

Don I know you can find the ROP and ROC on the NFPA site but that I find that site hard to navigate.

Ok. Thanks.
I have been thinking about dropping my NFPA membership and subscribing to NEC plus. I could probably get more out of it.

I was thinking about dropping my NFPA memebership as well. It does not seem worth it.

I was told they will be giving you an option of paying yearly in the coming future. Which is a great idea!

I was also a member once, about 10 years ago.
I still get invoices from them like I was still a member.
I didn't get anything from being a member.
The discount for the books was not enough to offset the membership fee.
