Does the NEC contain references from the IEC and IEEE and other international regulations such us: ANSI,ASTM,NEMA,FCC, etc?
I agree. There is a huge difference between an NRTL listing process and the CE process. But, compared to the global market, the US portion is pretty small. For example look at IP ratings, IMP they are more comprehensive than NEMA enclosure types. But other than a small IN note in Article 110 they are not recognizedIt seems to me that there is a push to address international standards in US codes. There are gaps between IEC and ANSI/IEEE. It seems to me that if you are going to write a specification for an equipment that will be installed and operated in the US then it should be based on standards used in the US. Equipment vendors should then design according to that spec. Our codes should not have to make provisions for adding references to international standards. That reciprocity is not extended to us.
