What NEC requirements would my company have to concern themselves with in order to build a comercial grade garage door opener? i.e. power, fusing, enclosure rating and type, grounding, GFCI (if applicable).

What NEC document would I need to follow?

How do I obtain this document?

Re: NEC Requirements for Commercial Grade Garage Door Opener

The NEC is not applicable to the construction of your "opener". The only time you need to worry directly about the NEC is when you are providing installation instructions and branch circuit recommendations.

You need to be more concerned with UL requirements.

One document you may want to use is NFPA 79 "Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery".
